Super Bowl 40: Decided in the Trenches

...important yards per carry, Seattle averaged 4.7 yards (second) while the Steelers averaged 4 yards per pop (12th).

One aspect of the game that could be key is that Seattle has faced only one good team all season (Dallas) that ran a 3-4 defense. So does Pittsburgh. In that game against the Cowboys, Shaun Alexander had his worst game of the season with 61 yards rushing on 21 carries. Seattle needed a late miracle in the final minute, and a timely Drew Bledsoe turnover, to win that game 13-10. You can bet the Seahawks have watched game film of that one again to try and figure out what they did wrong and what adjustments they need to make. Pittsburghs run-stuffers and quick, aggressive linebackers are as good as any in the league, and better than the Cowboys!

The Cowboys continually controlled the line of scrimmage by putting as many as nine defenders within 4 yards of the ball, even on passing downs. The Seattle offense, averaging 407 yards coming in to that game, finished with 289. In addition, QB Matt Hasselbeck was...more

Matt Leinart

...004 season. The following year, in 2005, Leinart was in the spotlight once again as the Orange Bowl MVP, recipient of the Unitas Award, All-American offensive Player, Sporting News Sportsman of the Year award and others.

Both college and nfl football fans will anxiously await to see which team will ultimately select Matthew Leinart. Entering the draft as a quarterback will instantly secure his spot in the limelight with the national team that secures the deal. This college senior has devoted his time to both academics and sports, which will certainly reflect on both playing skills and leadership ability.

Dog Clothes make Great Gifts - football jerseys, etc.

...When it comes to the art of giving, a gift of clothes is fraught with peril. We all have stories to tell, and if you don't, you will. Just give it time.

Mine started early. My grandmother, having survived the Depression, knew how to stretch a dollar. Clothes for her grandkids were always purchased 3 or 4 sizes too big so we could "grow into them". And she passed this charming trait on to my mother. So, we endured our baggy clothes, with the sleeves and pant legs rolled up, until we were finally big enough to wear them with dignity. By which time they were ready for donation.

Then there's my husband. Heaven forbid I should try to give the man a Polo shirt with an uneven hemline. Most Polos are made longer in the back to help them stay "tucked", but hubby goes un-tucked -- always. He rejects any polo that breaks the rule, no matter how subtly. For an otherwise easy-going guy, his behavior is almost perverse.

If you must give clothes this season, there's one giftee on your list who's sure to look great in any outfit you buy him. He'll wear your gift with pride and appreciation, head held high and tail wagging.

That's right, your dog. Or your best friend's dog. It's so easy you'l...more

Soccer The war Game! -Looking Back To Its Origin

...to a predetermined spot. Hundreds of people would take part in these games and a single game could last a whole day. Punching, kicking, biting , everything was allowed.

The savage nature of this form of football was not much appreciated by the rulers and the Royalty took all possible steps to stop these games. King Edward III of England, passed laws in 1331 to stop the game, he was followed by King James I of Scotland in 1424. The Queens were not far behind, rather, had a more strict approach. Queen Elizabeth I of england, enacted laws that could sentence a football player to jail for a week followed by penancing in a church.

However, in spite of all their best efforts and intentions they could not stop the game. It was too popular among the masses and they loved the game.

The first approach to regularize and give a civilized form to this game was taken by the famous Eton College of england in 1815 when they established a set of rules for the games. These rules were accepted by the othe...more
